User manual

Thierry CC for DaVinci Resolve - every tab, every control, every shortcut.

User manualEverything, tab by tab.

Getting started

StepWhat to do
1 · InstallRun the installer, then restart DaVinci Resolve.
2 · Add the nodeColor page › Effects › TColor. Drag it onto a node.
3 · Open the panelInspector › Settings: tick Open TColor UI.
4 · Colour SciencePick the space the node works in - usually DaVinci WG / Intermediate inside a colour-managed or CST project, or sRGB / Rec.709. Match Resolve (once) copies the project's timeline space one time. The ✓ marks the space in use. A new node takes your last choice. Nothing changes when you change clips.
5 · Each tab as a pluginWant only Curves? Use TCurves (or any other "T<tab>") - the same tab, on its own.
6 · OverlayView › Viewer Overlay › Open FX Overlay must be on for the pickers (the plugin turns it on for you).

The panel - things that work on every tab

ControlHow it works
TabsClick a tab to open its tool. Two fingers left / right on the trackpad slides to the next / previous tool. Drag a tab to reorder. A tab reading "· off" (Teal / Orange · off) is switched off - ⌘D switches the tab on / off.
SlidersDrag. Double-click the slider or its name to reset it. Hold ⌥ Option while dragging Exposure / Highlights / Shadows / Whites / Blacks to see the finder view (what is clipping, bright or dark).
Blend buttonClick Normal · RGB to open the list. Left: blend modes (Photoshop's list and order). Right: Color Mode (RGB, Subtractive Mix, Lab, HCL, Custom Channel) and its Channels.
The list stays open while you click in the plugin panel, so you can try modes one after another. It closes with Esc, a click on a green heading (Blend, Color Mode, Channels), the button again, or a click in Resolve.
OpacityDrag left / right on the number to scrub. Double-click the number to type a value. Double-click the name "Opacity:" to reset to 100%. Below 100% the number turns green, so a tab left at 0% is easy to spot.
Undo / RedoEach tab keeps its own history (50 steps). Click Undo / Redo, or press ⌘Z / ⇧⌘Z with the mouse over the panel. Elsewhere ⌘Z is Resolve's.
Reset (next to blend)Blend back to Normal · RGB · 100%.
👁 ChannelsSee the picture through one channel of the colour mode, like Photoshop's Channels panel. Viewer only - never rendered.
Reset TabResets this tab's tool. Keeps its blend mode.
Reset AllNext to Done. Resets every tab, including the blend modes.
Auto-hideBottom left of every tab. The panel hides when you select another node or clip, or go full screen, and comes back with its node.
DoneCloses the panel. / brings it back.
Size and placeDrag the panel where you want it and drag a corner to size it - everything inside scales together. It remembers the spot, and follows Resolve's window when that moves or resizes.

◆ Add KeyKeys this tab at the playhead.
Delete Key / Clear KeysRemoves the key under the playhead / every key of this tab.
The key lineGreen with diamonds = this tab has keys. Pale green = no keys yet. Pale red = this tool cannot be keyed.

Match Look

Match the look of a reference still - as sliders you keep adjusting (the LUT Extractor makes a fixed LUT instead).

ReferenceStarts with the LUT Extractor's reference. Import Ref picks another; ‹ Previous / Next › or ⇧← ⇧→ step through its folder. Every new reference is matched at once.
Match LookMatch again - for example after moving to another frame.
Ref Off · Small · Full FrameThe reference in the viewer (the same setting as the LUT Extractor's). ⌥R / ⌘R.
Tone: Fade · Level · Contrast50 = as matched.
Colour: Saturation · Shadow Tint · Highlight Tint100 = as matched; less or more of it.
Signature: Colour A · Colour B · WarmthThe reference's two strongest colour shifts and its warmth. 100 = as matched.

Offset pillThe third wheel becomes Offset. Gain keeps its values until you switch back.
Chain / Blend / SplitChain: the classic lift-gain-gamma. Blend: each wheel in its own tonal zone. Split: Lightroom's Color Grading - colour dots plus Shadows / Midtones / Highlights sliders under the wheels. Split is not offered in Lab, HCL or Custom Channel (those modes use the rings). Reset left of the menu resets the wheels only.

Skin Hue / Width / SoftKeeps skin out of the wheels' colour. Width 0 = off.

Playback, rendering and HDR

PlaybackWhile the playhead moves, the grade plays through a fast LUT. A paused frame is always drawn by the full engine - exact.
DeliverRenders from the Deliver page always use the full engine.
Colour-managed / CST projectsSet the node's Colour Science to the timeline space (usually DaVinci WG / Intermediate). The plugin reads Resolve's output space too, so its numbers match what you see (sRGB, Gamma 2.4…).
HDR / Dolby VisionGrade in HDR as usual - the plugin works in DWG. Its numbers (Curves, picks) are on an SDR scale, not nits: use Resolve's scopes for HDR levels.
